Holiday Season Kicks Off in Wilmington With Festival of Trees, Tree Lighting

The Festival of Trees and annual Wilmington tree lighting are both being held this weekend.


Wilmington will be getting into the holiday spirit this weekend with both the Women of Wilmington's Festival of Trees and the annual town tree lighting

The Women of Wilmington’s 3rd Annual Festival of Trees will kick off this Saturday, Dec. 7 from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. and continue Sunday, Dec. 8 from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Villanova Hall, 126 Middlesex Ave. in Wilmington. 

This free family-friendly event will feature a spectacular raffle of close to 100 holiday trees, wreaths and baskets.  

At their Nov. 12 meeting, Wilmington Selectmen voted 4-0 to approve use of the town common for the annual tree lighting ceremonies from 4 p.m. through 6:30 p.m on Saturday, Dec. 7.

Santa will be present to to light the tree and take photos with children at the Fourth of July building. 

Other attractions at the tree lighting ceremony will include hot chocolate, an ice sculpture display sponsored by the Wilmington Chamber of Commerce and local businesses and a model train display.
