UPDATE: Woman Goes Into Labor on I-93 in Wilmington

The woman was transported to Brigham and Women's after pulling over near Exit 41.

Updated Tuesday at 2:22 p.m.: The mother was transported to Winchester Hospital, according to the Wilmington Fire Department.

Thanks to the quick transport by Wilmington firefighters, the woman gave birth to a baby girl six minutes after her arrival in Winchester.

Original Story Tuesday at 2:15 p.m.: Wilmington firefighters assisted with a woman who went into labor on Interstate 93 on Tuesday afternoon.

Massachusetts State Police officers were on scene before 1 p.m. according to scanner reports after childbirth was described as imminent on I-93 South near Exit 41 in Wilmington near the Andover town line.

According to scanner reports, Wilmington firefighters were among those who responded to the scene and transported the expecting mother to Brigham and Women's Hospital.
