Wilmington Woman Charged With Assault to Murder

The following is an excerpt from the  log from Friday, July 6 to Sunday, July 8.

Friday, July 6

1:27 a.m.: State Police reported an erratic operator with no headlights traveling toward Wilmington. After stopping the vehicle, a Lawrence woman was summonsed for operating a motor vehicle with a revoked registration, driving an uninsured motor vehicle and miscellaneous motor vehicle equipment violations.

2:18 p.m.: A backpack was stolen from the , along with a cell phone.

2:22 p.m. Police stopped a vehicle that was exiting Elia's and issued a summons to a Wilmington man for operating a motor vehicle with a revoked license and operating an unregistered motor vehicle.

8:17 p.m.: On Evergreen Drive, a resident reported that a silk flower wreath was stolen off of her apartment door.

9:41 p.m.: Wilmington Police responded to a report of a stabbing Burnap Street. Billerica Officers located the woman after Wilmington put out a be on the lookout alert. Valerie R. Belding, 18, of 36 Jacquith Road in Wilmington, was arrested and charged with armed assault to murder along with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

Saturday, July 7

12:23 a.m.: A Church Street resident reported a bat in the house. The animal was removed from the property.

12:12 p.m.: On Chestnut Street, a caller said he found candles, a lighter and a home made Ouija Board on the loading dock area of the Wilmington Food Pantry building.

12:49 p.m.: An Aldrich Road caller came to the station to report a hockey net was stolen overnight.

9:11 p.m.: On Castle Drive, a female party was possibly passed out. The woman left a friend's house on Stonehedge Drive, tripped and hit her head. The Fire Lt. spoke with the female's father, who refused medical attention.

Sunday, July 8

1:08 a.m.: It appeared that a Lowell Street driver was throwing items from his vehicle. Police checked and it was actually an item that fell after being left on the roof.

6:30 a.m.: A Woburn Street caller reported that two full-size soda machines were taken from the exterior of the property sometime between Friday afternoon and now. The two used machines were valued about about $2,200 combined.

7:03 p.m.: On Lords Court, a woman requested a well-being check on her boyfriend. Fire Department was dispatched to the man and transported him to Winchester Hospital.
