Teenager Taken Into Protective Custody After Domestic Incident, Jewelry Store Reports Larceny

The following is an excerpt from the Wilmington Police log from Wednesday, July 9, to Thursday, July 10.

Wednesday, July 9

  • At 9:46 a.m. on Deming Way police were called to a verbal disturbance between a resident and the Housing Authority office. The caller said the person used profanity and slammed the door upon leaving the office.
  • At 8:02 p.m. a woman reported that her 13-year-old son was out of control. The juvenile was arrested for malicious destruction of property.

  • At 11:17 a.m. a black standard poodle was missing since sometime overnight on Poplar Street. The dog’s owner lives in Tewksbury. The resident called back to report that the dog was found deceased near the home.
  • At 12:06 p.m. police performed a well-being check on an Avalon Drive resident. Officers arrived on scene but the dead bolt was set and the woman would not answer the door. Police gained access thanks to property management and spoke to the woman, who was advised procedures of obtaining a restraining order.
  • At 2:23 p.m. a caller reported five youths throwing rocks at passing vehicles on Burnap Street, described as three females and two males.
  • At 2:36 p.m. on Wildwood Street, police served a warrant on Scott M. Maga Jr., 25, of 41 Oakdale Road, Wilmington. He was arrested and charged on an outstanding warrant.
  • At 3:40 p.m. larceny greater than $250 was reported at Flaherty Jeweler.
  • At 8:41 p.m. a verbal domestic incident was reported on Adams Street with a 14-year-old possibly intoxicated. The juvenile was taken into protective custody.
