Police Log: Suspicious Behavior and Trespassing at the High School

The following information was supplied by the Wilmington Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

The following is an excerpt from the Wilmington Police log from Wednesday, July 17, to Thursday, July 18.

Wednesday, July 17

7:59 a.m.: On Middlesex Ave. a motor vehicle crash with injury was reported. North Reading Transportation was notified and they had another van en route. Passengers were transferred to the other bus.

11:46 a.m.: Following up on a prior incident, police confiscated a single one-hitter and mortar type fireworks and brought them to the station to be destroyed.

2:36 p.m.: A Jonspin Road employee told police a man claiming to work for her company has falsely obtained supplies from a variety of companies.

8:02 p.m.: On Salem Street, a resident reported a man rang her doorbell and she had to tell him several times she was not interested in what he was offering before he left. The man will be contacted in the morning to be advised of town bylaws for soliciting.

Thursday, July 18

9:36 a.m.: Sometime overnight a mailbox was damaged on Woburn Street.

2:51 p.m.: A resident on I-93 reported that about 20 minutes ago a driver appeared to be video taping the school bus as they drove by. The caller wanted the incident logged.

4:16 p.m.: Police received a report of a dog left in a vehicle unattended. The windows are cracked but it did not appear the vehicle was running. Officers could not locate the owner in any nearby businesses. The man called back police after they left him a message, and the Animal Control Officer will follow up.

7:03 p.m.: During a routine check of the high school, a man in a grey t-shirt was on the property. When police arrived he took off on foot. Officer located him and told him he was not to go on the property or take pictures.

9:31 p.m.: A Grove Ave. caller reported he was attacked by his roommate. Units cleared the scene and the caller was advised on what he could do if he opts to press charges.
