Police Log: Beat the Train and Impaired Cab Driver

The following is an excerpt from the  log from Monday, June 4 to Tuesday, June 5.

Monday, June 4

1:56 a.m.: A boyfriend and girlfriend dispute was called in over house keys. The male party involved left for the evening and peace was restored after only a verbal confrontation.

9:29 a.m.: On Main Street near , a motor vehicle crash was reported with unknown injuries. Two vehicles were towed from the scene and one of the drivers was transported to her home.

12:02 p.m.: A walk-in party said an altercation happened with his wife while they were at the . The man said his wife hit him with the door of the car and he wanted the incident logged.

1:20 p.m.: The Animal Control Officer was on Ella Ave. dropping off an order for 10-day quarantine for dogs that bit another animal in the area.

4:27 p.m.: Hess Gas Station reported a male customer driving a silver sedan pumped $56.00 worth of gas and drove off toward Main Street. The driver was notified and returned within the hour. An officer responded to the gas station with the involved party, where it was resolved that the payment had been made.

8:11 p.m.: A female on Avalon Drive thought she was going into labor, but she did not require medical assistance at the time.

11:32 p.m.: Three juveniles were reported missing from Milestone Group Home. All three youths returned back to the property within about three hours.

Tuesday, June 5

6:12 a.m.: A caller said that while waiting at the train crossing, a pick up truck that was behind her pulled around her vehicle in an attempt to beat the train. While maneuvering around the gates, the vehicle struck one of the crossing gates causing the top of it to break. The vehicle was gone on arrival and the MBTA handled the gate issue.

10:44 a.m.: On Allernhurst Way, a female party reported that about 10 minutes prior to calling, a white male with short grey hair pulled up to her and asked where she was going and if she needed a ride. Units checked the area, but were unable to locate the man.

11:21 a.m.: Police pulled a vehicle over on Lowell Street because he matched the description of the man from the previous call. The driver was wearing a FedEx shirt, which police said could be confused for a Red Sox shirt. The driver, however, denies having been in the area where the woman reported the incident.

2:49 p.m.: A driver on Lowell Street said he witnessed the . Police arrested John J. McLaughlin, Jr., 62, of 668 Main Street, Apt. 188 in Wilmington, for operating under the influence of liquor, second offense, and marked lanes violation.

3:24 p.m.: caller said they witnessed a pick up truck hit another vehicle and leave the scene. Three witnesses saw the truck back into a Honda. The driver of the truck admitted to striking the car, but said someone waved him away. Minimal damage was done and paperwork was exchanged.

6:37 p.m.: A two-car crash occurred on Middlesex Ave. and airbags were deployed. Two vehicles were towed from the scene and some property damage occurred to .

10:08 p.m.: Several car loads of youths were dispersed from the and sent on their way.
