IMAGE GALLERY: Wilmington Honors September 11 Anniversary

Town officials, emergency workers and more took part.

On a sunny day just like the one 10 years before, Wilmington residents paused to reflect on the lives lost during the attacks of September 11, 2001.

The ceremony began at and continued on , where several speakers shared their thoughts and emotions one decade after one of the most infamous days in United States history.

I wish that yesterday's commemoration ceremonies were not necessary. But, given the reality of what ocurred 10 years ago, I want to express my most sincere PRIDE in this community and in you, my neighbors and friends for turning out in such numbers. It was a fitting honor and reflection of the sacrifices made by so many that day and since. Nice work Wilmington!!

I am so honored to be a resident of Wilmington, the turn out to the 9-11 ceremony was beautiful. Thank you to those who attended, and a big thank you to those who go to work everyday protecting the citizens of this community.
