Grove Ave. Closed Monday Afternoon After Garbage Truck Fire

Mutual aid responded to the scene as firefighters battled hydrant problems.

Wilmington firefighters responded to Grove Ave. just before 1:30 p.m. on Monday when a garbage truck caught fire.

The truck became fully involved, and a pole in the area was damaged as well. Wilmington Police said just after 1:30 p.m. that Grove Ave. was closed to traffic area due to the incident.

The road remained closed until later in the day. At 6:30 p.m., police alerted residents that the road remained open with slight delays as equipment was repaired and removed.
