Four Vehicles Destroyed During Andover Street Fire

The following is an excerpt from the Wilmington Police log from Saturday, July 27, to Sunday, July 28.

Saturday, July 27

12:15 a.m.: An employee from The Ninety-Nine Restaurant reported that his bicycle was stolen sometime between 3:30 p.m. and 11:45 p.m. on Friday night.

2:47 a.m.: Officers checked on a person in front of Elia's Country Store. Police found the man was scrapping and he was returned to his North Street home.

10:59 a.m.: Following a traffic stop at Burger King on Lowell Street, police arrested Michael Kenneth Webster, 25, of 10 Burlington Ave. Apt. 2315, Wilmington, and charged him with unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license and three counts of being a fugitive from justice on a court warrant.

6:43 p.m.: Calling from Al Prime Gas Station on Main Street, a resident reported a man on a Segway with a wagon attached, and he appeared to be filling gas containers. The caller was concerned for his safety, but police were unable to locate the man.

Sunday, July 28

5:02 a.m.: Police assisted the Fire Department with a front loader that was on fire on Andover Street. Officer reported that two other vehicles were on fire, a dump truck and a box truck. It appeared one of the vehicles exploded. Officers reported that the business was scheduled to go out business within the next few weeks and vehicles were going to be auctioned off. In total, four vehicles were involved in the flames.

7:28 p.m.: Upon returning from vacation, a Dayton Road caller reported that the lock on the inside door leading to the basement was broken, and the only outside access is through a window.
