Baby Found Under Pillow, Possible Recording Device Located in Restroom

The following is an excerpt from the Wilmington Police log from Thursday, July 11, to Friday, July 12.

Thursday, July 11

12:30 p.m.: Dispatch received a call for a four-month-old baby found under a pillow, possibly not breathing. Responding medics reported that the baby was conscious and breathing, but lethargic. The infant was transported to Winchester Hospital.

12:49 p.m.: A car crashed into a telephone pole on Lowell Street. The vehicle had to be towed from the scene.

1:03 p.m.: Police arrested Jose O. Queliz-Duran, 35, of 15 Independent Drive, Methuen, for an outstanding warrant.

3:08 p.m.: Walking into the station, a woman reported a possible recording device found in the ladies restroom at Valley Green on Industrial Way.

10:39 p.m.: Units were checking Shell Gas Station for a report of an individual with warrants out for his arrest. A man told police the involved party jumped out of his car and began walking on Lowell Street. Marc J. Piro Jr., 19, of 23 Buckingham Road, Wilmington, was arrested on two outstanding warrants.

Friday, July 12

3:07 p.m.: A Broad Street resident reported that her daughter ran away the previous day.

5:18 p.m.: Two vehicles were involved in a crash on Eames Street with injuries reported. The Fire Department transported to people to a nearby hospital.

7:48 p.m.: Police assisted the Fire Department in locating the source of smoke in the area of the railroad tracks behind Sherburn Place and Brand Ave. Crews checked the area and eventually located an outdoor fire on Brand Ave. The Fire Department extinguished the fire.
