Longtime Wilmington Resident to Be Remembered During Saturday Funeral

The longtime resident of Wilmington passed away on January 26.

Joanne J. (Enos) Spinelli, age 73, a long-time resident of Wilmington, passed away unexpectedly on January 26 at the Winchester Hospital.

Joanne was born on January 3, 1941, in Boston; she was the eldest daughter of the late Frank B. and Mabel (Gouvea) Enos. As a young girl, Joanne lived in Everett before moving with her family to Wilmington in the early 1950’s. Joanne graduated from Wilmington High School with the class of 1958.

Joanne married the “love of her life” Ross Spinelli in 1961; they met in Boston moved to Malden and started a family just before they moved to Wilmington , spending more than 48 years together before his untimely passing in 2009.

Joanne’s love for her family was unconditional; she was a very devoted wife and mother to Ross Jr. and Mark.  Joanne was very proud of her sons and of the men that they became.  Joanne loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren Anthony, Nicolas, Domenic, Gianna, Novena, Dino, and Catalina Rose, they were the light of her life and she cherished every moment with them.

Joanne also enjoyed baking and cooking; she loved to get new ideas and recipes from such television shows as Paula Dean, and Diners, Drive-Ins, & Dives and then share them with her family and friends.

Joanne looked forward to going to Bingo with her friends and was forever grateful for the friendships she shared with Gail Stewart, Debbie Rousseaux-Ellsworth, Corrine DeGennaro, and Rita Capuano; they were always very supportive of one another.

Joanne will be fondly remembered as a kind and caring woman, she was always there to lend a hand to others, and she will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Joanne was the beloved wife of the late Ross Spinelli, devoted mother of Ross F. Spinelli, Jr. and his wife Maria of Epping, NH and Mark A. Spinelli and his wife Jennifer of Hampstead, NH, loving “Grammy” of Anthony, Nicolas, Domenic, Gianna, Novena, Dino and Catalina Rose, she is survived by many relatives , cousins and friends.

Family and friends will gather for a Funeral on Saturday, Feb. 1, at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rt. 62), Wilmington, at 11:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Dorothy’s Church, 120 Main St. (Rt. 38), Wilmington, at 12:00 p.m. Interment will take place in Wildwood Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Friday, January 31st from 4:00-8:00 p.m.

Memorial donations in Joanne’s name may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
