Recapping Patch's Coverage of the Fourth

The week of the Fourth of July is one of the highlights of the year in Wilmington, and Patch was there for just about everything.

This year, Ben Kochman provided you with a four part series called What I Ate at the Fourth of July. On the first day, the , the second night was , the third night and we wrapped things up with a .

Photographer Bruce Hilliard provided galleries of several events. First, he took you on a with his weekly Viewfinder. During Saturday's Family Day, Hilliard was in attendance at the , which included a variety of fuzzy characters.

Also on Monday, we ran a of the Carnival and Family Day. Whether residents were eating, playing, or listening to music, Family Day is a huge hit in town.

One of the highlights of the week came on Friday during the hospital races. Arlene Ave. narrowly edged Local Heroes for the title, and Patch was there to cover it all in a way never seen before.

Chris Pennie from the Local Heroes wore a helmet cam, and on Tuesday at 3 p.m. we will bring you complete coverage of the race.
