Church Street Closed, Delays Possible Due to Resurfacing

The Department of Public Works will be grinding and resurfacing the popular street.

Drivers on Church Street should be prepared for possible delays in the area starting on Wednesday.

Earlier this week the town sent out an alert to Wilmington residents, reminding them that road work is scheduled for the area not far from Town Common.

The Department of Public Works will be grinding and resurfacing Church Street from Adams Street to Olson Street, as well as Adelaide Street from Church Street to Middlesex Ave.

Work is scheduled to begin Wednesday, pending weather and the scheduled of the town's roadway contractor.

"During grinding and paving operations, Church Street will be closed in the westbound direction at Middlesex Ave and will be directed all the way to Main Street," the town said. "Church Street is planned to remain open in the eastbound direction. Adelaide Street will be closed and open only to public safety officials."

Restrictions may be changed during construction due to safety or traffic volume, according to the DPW. Residents who live in the area will be able to reach their homes despite the road closures, though there may be delays.

Anyone with questions is encouraged to contact the DPW at (978) 658-4481.
