Wilmington Selectmen to Consider Calling Special Town Meeting

Voters would be asked to approve the appropriation of funds for the purchase of property at 120 Main Street.

Selectmen will consider calling a Nov. 13 Special Town Meeting at their Sept. 9 meeting.

The purpose of the Special Town Meeting would be to appropriate the necessary funds to purchase property at 120 Main St. owned by the Archdiocese of Boston, currently part of St. Dorothy's Parish.

At their Aug. 12  meeting, Selectmen took a vote of determination of uniqueness for the 7.86 acre property at 120 Main St., which demonstrates the property has unique characteristics that make it impractical to go through formal bid process.

Selectmen voted 4-0 in favor of a determination of uniqueness for the property at 120 Main St.

An agreement to purchase the property would have to receive approval from the Archdiocese of Boston as well as Town Meeting approval.

Should Selectmen decide to call a Special Town Meeting it would be held at Wilmington Middle School on Wednesday, Nov. 13 at 7 p.m.
