Police Suspend Search For Wilmington Man Who Fell Off Ferry in Boston

A Wilmington man who fell off a cruise in Boston Harbor Saturday night is still missing, according to MyFoxBoston.com.


Police and Coast Guard have called off a search for a Wilmington man who fell off a ferry out of Boston Harbor Saturday night, according to MyFoxBoston.com.

Ted Daniel, of Fox 25, tweeted Sunday night the Coast Guard would not continue searching for the 41-year-old Wilmington man
 
The unidentified man was aboard the Provincetown II ferry, owned by Bay State Cruises, when he fell from the railing of the third deck at 10:35 p.m. opposite South Boston's Castle Island, according to MyFoxBoston.com.

Witnesses told authorities the man was engaging in horseplay before passengers as well as a staff member tried to stop him from scaling the ships railings, according to MyFoxBoston.com.

Ferry staff initiated rescue procedure, positioning lookouts, but none saw the passenger come to the surface, according to MyFoxBoston.com.

The search spanned Saturday and Sunday, involved six first responder vessels, a helicopter and two Bay State Cruise ships, according to MyFoxBoston.com.
