On the article State House News Service Weekly Roundup: A Hoop-De-Doo
Sean Ward

I love how this author refers to Gomez as leaving "the safe protective nest of his private equity firm" like it was some kind of free ride. And getting called out by a clear Dem author for finding and successfully using a tax loophole like every single other tax paying American doesn't pour through the tax code every year for a way to shelter as much of their income as possible. I can tell you right now that no Navy Seal is out of touch with the American people. Gomez knows better than 99% of us what it means to work hard. Anyone that knows anything about Seal training knows that. I hope my hard work leads to financial success like his did some day. And I hope the Dems like Matt Murphy here don't try to villify me for it if I succeed.

ReplyMass used to make up for this with lower than average state income tax and reasonable sales tax but those are broken too now.

On the article Markey or Gomez: Who Would You Vote for Today?
Sean Ward
12:35 pm on Saturday, May 4, 2013
ReplyA Navy Seal is willing to lay down his life to protect people that can't protect themselves. Nobody can question their commitment to the United States. I'm voting for Gomez. There are other jobs Markey can do to try to save icebergs, keep kids off rollercoasters, and move daylight savings time around. I need someone who is going to spend a little time securing the near future for my children and grandchildren and not just polar bears and blue spotted newts.

Gina, if those are your hot points you should vote Gomez just to give a little more strength to the party that generally opposes those issues.

ReplyI was relieved that he was caught but disappointed that he was taken alive. The four lives he took, the anxious and heroic time thousands of law enforcement people had to expend, the million people who had to hide in their homes and now we have to heal him, protect him, feed him, shelter him, cloth him, and provided him with millions of dollars worth of legal defence. I wouldn't change it because that's what makes us different from him but a part of me hoped he would spare us all from what is to come over the next several years by going down in the fight.

On the article With Capture of Second Bomber, Week of Terror Comes to End

ReplyWe clearly have a different definition of terrorism. I see a diffence between actions against military targets that inadvertently lead to civilian losses vs actions that specifically target innocent civilian populations with no legitimate military or police significance. These are the actions of extremists. Are you suggesting that the 8 year old boy that died deserved what he got because his government went to war in Iraq before he was even born.

ReplySeems every time we pull troops out of their home bases it gives them time to focus on planning and executing attacks on our soil instead.

ReplyThanks for this post Jon and Conor. If we change anything about the marathon or the Patriots Day Red Sox game then the terrorists get exactly what they set out for. I hope everyone has the courage to be like Conor and says "I'm still gonna..." whether that means running it, watching it, going to the Patriots Day game or just going to Boston for an amazing day in the city. Aside from a little more security I hope we don't change a thing.

Brian, I don't. I just think there should be a guardrail there to improve safety. It's a problem I have, when I see something terrible happen I can't help thinking of how it could have been prevented.

I have lived in other parts of the country but not in any of the 7 states who's non-federal tax burdens are higher than Massachusetts or any of the 8 states who's total cost of living is higher than Massachusetts. There are two ways to live well in Massachusetts; make alot of money or make nothing.
