Residents of all ages watch as iRobot senior mechanical engineer Steve Barletta provides insite into robot technology.
Not many companies would celebrate when a piece of equipment they spent many hours of hard work building comes back to them completely destroyed. That's just one of the ways iRobot is unique. Steve Barletta, a senior mechanical engineer at the Bedford-based company, came to Wilmington Memorial Library and showed a variety of ways his company's robots are used. He showed a photograph of a completely unworkable robot that had been sent back after it was used to detonate many explosives for the military. He said iRobot workers clapped when the machine came back, because they know it's better to lose then robot than the life of a brave soldier. This beautiful Town Park Walk, constructed by Marty Sabounjian and Troop 56 for his Eagle Badge. The trail map coincides with the historic Middlesex Canal built in 1798.
