The plane has been evacuated and baggage taken off for inspection by law enforcement officials, according to several reports.
UPDATE TUESDAY, APRIL 16, 11:55 A.M.: The suspicious package on the plane was re-screened and cleared by security officials, according to the TSA (Transportation Security Administration). In a press statement, the TSA said that the checked bag was re-screened at Logan after baggage handlers in Philadelphia "noted concern." The plane landed safely at Logan and passengers were bused to the gate. "While properly screened by TSA at Philadelphia International Airport (PHL), the bag was re-screened by local EOD (Explosive Ordnance Disposal team) at BOS as a precaution and has been cleared," the statement said. The award honors non-Massport employees at Boston Logan International Airport whose actions epitomize the highest level of customer service. Yes, I need a vacation after this one!
If you ever thought traveling through airport security was difficult, try doing it with an infant. Try doing it with an infant who is squirming around while your pants that used to fit before you got pregnant fall off your buns (that no longer exist) because your belt has to be scanned by security all while you search your pocket for a pacifier to stop your baby from crying. That was my trip this last week. With my hubby in Africa on military business, I was left to figure out how to a) get out with all this snow on my driveway and b) afford some transportation to and from the airport. Lucky for me I have the best neighbors in the world, one of whom owns a snow blower and the other owns a snow plow. Between the two of them I was out of …
