Man Overdoses Near Shawsheen Elementary School
School personell help save man's life.
Few details are available, but police and school officials confirmed that a man overdosed on drugs on Wednesday morning across the street from Shawsheen Elementary School. Lt. Joseph Desmond said he was unable to identify the victim, but said there was a medical aid call at 296 Shawsheen Ave., which is a shopping plaza. "The report was that the young man was not breathing," said Desmond. "He was treated at the scene and transported. We believe he's going to be OK." During Wednesday night's School Committee meeting, the incident was brought up by resident Kevin MacDonald, and Superintendent of Schools Joanne Benton also confirmed the overdose.
