Top Liquor Store Chosen in Landslide Vote

Find out which shop readers selected in our latest Best of Patch Readers' Choice.

There are several great choices for liquor needs in Wilmington. But Patch readers made it clear that one tops all. East Gate Liquors earned an impressive 50 votes out of a total of 80 selections in our poll that opened on Monday. Elia's Country Store finished in second with 13 votes, while Main Street Liquors came in third. According to the East Gate directory listing on Wilmington Patch, the store sells a long list of adult beverages. "East Gate Liquors, in the East Gate Center shopping plaza, sells a variety of domestic and imported beers, liquors and wines," the listing reads. "Some specific brands sold here include Samuel Adams, Budweiser, Miller Lite, Captain Morgan's Rum and Skyy Vodka." The store is open seven days a week. Customers…

I live around the corner from the Wilmington Plaza. I do my grocery shopping there and pop into the Wilm Plaza Liquor every few days to replenish my favorite wine and pick up beer for my husband and his friends. Readers Select Top Staycation Venue

Canobie Lake Park tops this week's Best of Patch Readers' Choice vote.

If you're looking for a day trip to make this summer, Wilmington Patch readers have a suggestion for you. Canobie Lake Park in Salem, N.H., topped the vote, besting Silver Lake, CoCo Keys Water Park and Kimball Farm among others as the top staycation in the area. Salem's amusement park is a hot spot for visitors of all ages, many making the trip from out of town to enjoy a summer day with the family. "Canobie Lake Park is an amusement park that provides rides, games, live entertainment, food, gifts and more," the business listing on Salem Patch reads. Winner for Best Sports Store is Chosen

Play It Again Sports in North Reading takes the honor for best sporting goods store in the area.

For this week's Best of Patch Readers' Choice, Wilmington residents went outside of town lines as they made their selection. North Reading business Play It Again Sports took home the honors with a total of 14 votes, edging out The Sports Authority in Woburn's nine tallies. A total of six readers selected Wilmington's Cooke's Skate Supply while Wilmington's Olympia Sports received three votes. A big attraction to Play It Again Sports is that the shop features both new and used equipment. "At Play It Again Sports, customers may earn cash for used sports gear, trade up for another sports line, buy new items, consign or donate," the description of the Play It Again Sports directory listing reads. Day or Night, Simard's is Choice for French Fries

Simard's wins Best of Patch Readers' Choice for this week.

It doesn’t matter what time of day or night it is. Simard’s is the place to go for Wilmington residents on a quest for fried food. During this week’s Best of Patch Readers’ Choice, we asked you to select the best french fries in town. Simard’s received 47 tallies, running away with the vote ahead of AJ’s Kitchen, which snagged 16 votes. Rocco’s eanred 12 votes along with McDonald’s. To be specific, readers offered rave reviews of Simard’s waffle fries, which come with nacho cheese on the side. Operations Manager Alex Nirgiankis said the fries go great with a roast beef sandwich. “It’s addicting, and they help you get sober during those late night trips,” said Nirgiankis with a laugh. “They’re one of the top sellers if not the top seller.” …

Rocco's Uses Luck of the Irish to Win Readers' Choice

Local Italian restaurant is all Irish for St. Paddy's Day.

For most of the year, Rocco's Restaurant and Bar is well known in the Wilmington community for its Italian dishes. But this weekend, it's all Irish, all the time. Patch readers selected the local restuarant as the best place to celebrate St. Patrick's Day in our weekly Best of Patch Readers' Choice competition. On Friday and Saturday of this weekend, Rocco's will go through a total of about 500 pounds of corned beef, and also provide musical entertainment for St. Paddy's Day. The restaurant is known as O'Rocco's around this time of year, and has t-shirts to prove it. "Everyone is Irish on St. Paddy's Day," said owner Chuck DePasquale.
