VIDEO: Incumbent Miceli Defeats Sears in Landslide Vote

Longtime State Rep. Jim Miceli rolled past challenger Doug Sears according to unofficial counts.

Updated at 10:31 p.m.: After a long campaign, Rep. Jim Miceli used his victory speech to supporters for a parting shot to challenger Doug Sears. "If you take Tewksbury and you take Wilmington, they don’t buy into dirty campaigning. I’m not going to be humble like I’ve been in the past," said Miceli, who never referred to Sears by name. "I’ve been in politics since 1963 and this guy is the dirtiest individual I’ve ever run against in my life. But the problem was he couldn’t find anything bad. And what he couldn’t find, he’d make up. We overcame that and I appreciate that." In Wilmington, the unofficial results show that Miceli cruised with a 7,834-2,279 margin of victory. Mario, It's nice to see that you've gained respect and what seems like a little affection (maybe?) for Jim Miceli. He is a "good man doing a good job" and he genuinely cares about his constituents. I'm very happy he won. Mr. Sears has just seemed bitter from the get go. I hope he can heal.   more ›
