After a full season and playoff bracket, the Tigers and Yankees battled with the title on the line in a best-of-three series that wrapped up on Wednesday night at Rotary Park. In the end, it was the Yankees who were victorious, 7-5. The champs weathered a back-and-forth start to the game, pulled ahead in the middle innings and held off a late Tiger charge for the win.

It's weeks like these that make me love living in New England. The weather is finally dry, set to be in the 80s and with low humidity (that is key) and there are ample of playgrounds to visit. My daughter LOVES being outside, it instantly puts a smile on her face and I know I'm doing a world of good for her so that makes me smile too (even if some of the bugs definitely do not). The National Institutes of Health and a number of other health organizations, doctors, and researches have published a myriad of health studies showing that outdoor play is essential in the overall mental and physical development of children. In Memoriam: James Tildsley

An instrumental man in the forming of Rotary Park and long-time Little League president has passed away.

A funeral for James A. Tildsley, age 81, a long-time resident of Wilmington, was held this morning at Nichols Funeral Home, Inc., at 9 a.m. before his funeral services at St. Thomas church. He was laid to rest at the Interment Wildwood Cemetery.  Tildsley died Monday, November 15, 2010, at the Lowell General Hospital. Born on November 25, 1928, in Medford, MA, James was the dear son of the late Sidney A. and Louise (Minchello) Tildsley. He grew up in Medford, MA and was a graduate of Medford High School. James enlisted in the United States Army during World War II and was honorably discharged in November of 1947. He married Claire O'Neil on June 10, 1950, together they enjoyed over 56 years of marriage before her passing in April 2007. The…
