3rd Annual 5K Run for Wilmington and Kim Forte Walk This Sunday

Women of Wilmington raises thousands of dollars each year to help local non-profits.

Runners and walkers of all ages and athletic abilities will gather on the Town Common on Sunday, April 28,  for the Women of Wilmington's 3rd Annual 5K Run for Wilmington and Kim Forte Walk. The event will benefit multiple Wilmington non-profit organizations and is named in honor of Kim Forte, who was struck by a car and killed in February, 2011. There have been more than 600 participants in each of the first two years of the race, according to an article appearing in the Town Crier. The race is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. The 5K loop will also conclude the The Common. Race-day registration is $30 for adults (16-over) and $20 for children. For the first time, $5 of that registration fee will be donated to the Wilmington non-profit …

McNeil Sentenced to Prison Time for Forte's Death

Wilmington resident Charles McNeil pleaded guilty on Tuesday on two counts, admitting that he was under the influence of drugs when he struck and killed Kim Forte.

Charles McNeil pleaded guilty on Tuesday to two charges in the death of fellow Wilmington resident Kim Forte, who he struck and killed with his car two years ago. On Tuesday in Lowell Superior Court, a judge accepted terms of the plea agreement which will result in prison time for McNeil, according to the Middlesex County District Attorney's Office. McNeil will serve two and a half to three years in state prison on the charge of motor vehicle homicide by operating on the influence of drugs and negligence. In addition, he pleaded guilty to operating under the influence of drugs, second offense. He was sentenced to 2.5 years in the house of corrections for that charge with the balance suspended five years. McNeil will serve 60 days for that …

Forte Family Hopes for Closure With Plea Agreement Near

According to the husband of late Wilmington resident Kim Forte, a plea agreement is likely to be struck on Tuesday in Lowell Superior Court.

Lou Forte called the two years since his wife’s death a nightmare that he can't wake up from. Though it won’t bring an end to his nightmare, the husband of the late Kim Forte will soon have something he hasn’t had in nearly two years – closure. Jury selection was scheduled to begin Monday in Lowell Superior Court as Charles McNeil faces a variety of felony charges in the death of fellow Wilmington resident Kim Forte. But attorneys opted not to select a jury, and instead will present a proposal for a plea agreement to the judge on Tuesday. Jury Selection Starts Monday in Charles McNeil Trial

Charles McNeil's trial will get underway next week in Lowell Superior Court as he faces charges of motor vehicle homicide by operating under the influence of drugs and negligence in the death of Kim Forte.

Nearly two years to the day after Wilmington resident Kim Forte was killed while walking home from the gym, the trial for the man allegedly responsible for her death will get underway in Superior Court. Jury selection is slated to begin on Monday, February 11, as fellow Wilmington resident Charles McNeil will stand trial on felony charges of motor vehicle homicide by operating under the influence of drugs and negligence, operating a motor vehicle under the influence of drugs, second offense, and marked lanes violation. McNeil Back in Court, Next Appearance Set for September

The court process for the man accused of killing a Wilmington pedestrian while driving under the influence in 2011 continued on Monday.

Nearly 18 months to the day after he allegedly struck and killed fellow Wilmington resident Kim Forte, Charles McNeil was back in Superior Court on Monday for a brief hearing in his vehicular homocide case. Tuesday marked one and a half years since Forte was struck and killed on Main Street while walking home from the gym. The day before, McNeil continued the court process and was provided his next date of appearance. McNeil's charges of motor vehicle homicide by operating under the influence of drugs and negligence, operating a motor vehicle under the influence of drugs, second offense, and marked lanes violation, were recently upgraded to felony counts. Does McNeil deny that he struck and killed someone with his car? If not then it is alleged that he was under the influence of drugs when he caused a fatality with his motor vehicle but it is agreed that he struck and killed fellow Wilmington resident Kim Forte.   more ›

In his first court appearance since he was arraigned on upgraded felony charges in the 2011 death of a pedestrian, Charles McNeil appeared for a brief pretrial conference on Tuesday in Woburn. McNeil Arraigned in Superior Court on Friday

Wilmington resident accused of motor vehicle homicide will be back in court on June 12.

After he was indicted earlier this month on felony charges in the 2011 death of a fellow Wilmington resident, Charles McNeil returned to court for arraignment on Friday morning. McNeil, 44, was arraigned by clerk magistrate Michael Sullivan in Middlesex Superior Court and ordered held on $10,000 bail with an order not to drive, according to the DA's office. The Wilmington resident was originally arraigned last year on charges of motor vehicle homicide by operating under the influence of drugs and negligence, operating a motor vehicle under the influence of drugs, second offense, and marked lanes violation. Lou Forte has received plenty of support since his wife's death just over one year ago. As he stood on Wilmington Town Common on Sunday addressing a crowd of more than 500 people, that support was never more evident. The large group of runners, walkers, volunteers, and well-wishers turned out for the second annual Women of Wilmington Run for Wilmington and Kim Forte Walk in honor of the late resident, who was killed by an allegedly impaired driver in February 2011. Sunday Road Race Set to Honor Kim Forte

It’s been more than a year since Wilmington resident Kim Forte was killed while walking home from the gym like she did nearly every day. By no means, however, is Forte forgotten. That will be evident on Sunday during the second annual Run for Wilmington and Kim Forte Walk that begins at 11 a.m. on Town Common. DA: McNeil Also Impaired by Marijuana in Crash

Charles McNeil was indicted on felony charges Tuesday for the February 2011 crash that killed Kim Forte.

More details surfaced late Tuesday on the indictment of Wilmington resident Charles McNeil, 44, who faces felony charges in the 2011 death of Kim Forte. According to a press release from the Middlesex District Attorney's office, McNeil was indicted Tuesday by a Middlesex Superior grand jury on charges of motor vehicle homicide by operating under the influence of drugs and negligence, operating a motor vehicle under the influence of drugs, second offense, and marked lanes violation. McNeil next be will be arraigned in Middlesex Superior Court in Woburn on May 18.
