The battle for the 6th District seat is over.
Congressman John Tierney has defeated Republican challenger Richard Tisei in an extremely tight race for Massachusetts 6th District congressional seat. This has been an unusually high-profile congressional race in Massachusetts, which is considered a stronghold for House Democrats. Tierney suffered from the impact of a family scandal involving his wife, her brother and her brother’s illegal offshore gambling business. Tisei, on the other hand, climbed to popularity with his aggressive campaign, his theme of bipartisanship and his years of serving in the state legislature. He out-raised Tierney in campaign donations every quarter. Tisei made Tierney’s family legal scandal a focus of the campaign, calling Tierney’s credibility into question…

Congressman John Tierney told the area's media on Wednesday that his two brothers-in-law are "trying to blame anyone but themselves" with their recent claims that he knew about their illegal activities. He also suggested that an angry and bitter Daniel and Robert Eremian lashed out because "their brother-in-law in Congress didn't make this go away for them." Local media spent about 45 minutes asking Tierney about the two brothers of his wife, Patrice. Last week, Daniel Eremian received a three-year sentence for gambling-related charges and made news when he claimed that Tierney had known about the family's illicit business pursuits. The brothers indicated that Tierney allowed his wife to plead guilty because he was concerned about a House …

Would you support another stimulus package? John Tierney: The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act did in fact have much to do with this country avoiding a full blown depression. And saved or created nearly 4 million jobs at a time when doing so was essential. The administration upon taking office hoped that the unemployment rate would not rise above 8%, but obviously the severity of …
