Forget the Former, The Truezoos and The President take center stage at The Harp in Boston.

Local musicians rocked The Harp in Boston Thursday night in Patch's Battle of the Bands finale showcase. Fans joined band members and the Patch family for an evening of free live music from contest runners up, Forget the Former and The Truezoos, as well contest winner, The President. The concert capped off the Battle of the Bands competition, which kicked off in March with three regional competitions and continued with the final round, which was won by The President, a Wakefield rapper, who captivated the crowd Thursday with an hour-plus set at Boston restaurant The Harp.

The Truezoos Are Ready to Rock Patch Concert Thursday

Top finalists in Patch's Battle of the Bands, The Truezoos, will treat fans to a non-stop set of rock at The Harp on June 28.

No glitz, no glamour, no problem. For Sean O'Sullivan, Jeff Kereakoglow and Marc Hoffman, the three members of the up and coming rock band The Truezoos, it's all about the music. On Thursday, they will perform at Patch's Battle of the Bands concert at The Harp in Boston along with Forget the Former and the winner of the Video Battle of the Bands, The President. The President featuring L.E.S White was the top vote-getter in the final round of the Battle of The Bands beating The Truezoos, Forget the Former, Scotty and the Gang, BlackLight SunRise and DCLA (Dukes County Love Affair). The President featuring L.E.S White’s “You Can Change That” featured Nicholas Kermelewicz of Wakefield and picked up 379 votes out of the approximately 1,000 votes cast by Patch readers over the two weeks of the final round. VOTE: Video Battle of the Bands Final Round

Twenty-four submissions are now down to six finalists competing to take the top prize in Patch's Video Battle of the Bands. Six bands and individuals, ranging the gamut from rock to rap, square off to see who will win the grand prize, which includes headlining a show at the Harp in Boston in June. The top two vote getters from each regional competition who are now in the finals are: Forget the Former and The Truezoos from the North Shore/Merrimack Valley regional round. The President featuring L.E.S White and Scotty and the Gang from the Greater Boston regional round. Video Battle of the Bands: North Shore/Merrimack Valley Winners

Find out who won the Patch Battle of the Bands in Merrimack Valley and the North Shore.

Aspiring rock stars in the Merrimack Valley and North Shorth put out their music to thousands in Patch's Video Battle of the Bands and the fans have spoken. The regional round of the battle has now concluded and two bands will go on to the finalist round. Winning first place with 204 votes is Forget the Former - “I Would Have Lost” with band members Bobby Briggs of Westford; Daniel Daley of Tewksbury; and Ben Hanson of Lowell. Forget the Former wins two hours of recording time at The Space in Lowell. Coming in second place with 177 votes is The Truezoos – “I’ll Keep This One” with band members Sean O’Sullivan and Marc Hoffman of Georgetown; and Jeff Kereakoglow of Danvers. Patch Video Battle of the Bands 2012 is here! More than 20 bands from across Eastern Massachusetts submitted videos of original songs over the past two weeks to multiple area Patch sites in hopes of taking home the top prize. First off is a regional round in which we pit bands and musicians from the North Shore and Merrimack Valley against one another. They will square off to win bragging rights in the area, a cool prize and a chance to go to the final round and win a rockstar prize pack! The field for the North Shore/Merrimack Valley round is strong with musical tastes ranging from rock to jazz to pop to metal. Voting for the regional round will run until noon on Friday, May 4. Video Battle of the Bands is Coming to Patch

Local bands should get their videos ready for April 9.

Patch will be starting collecting entries for our Video Battle of the Bands contest starting on April 9. The contest will pit bands from nearly three dozens communities in Greater Boston, the North Shore, Merrimack Valley, South Shore and Cape Cod and the Islands. The contest will work this way: We’ll ask local bands to upload a video of themselves performing an original song starting on Monday, April 9. We’ll collect entries over two weeks. On Monday, April 23, we’ll kick off a regional competition across Eastern Massachusetts. Voters will be able to comment and tell us their favorites. Voting for the first round will close on Friday, May 4. The top two winners from each regional group (North Shore/Merrimack Valley, Boston/Greater Boston …
