Local Band MOJO Makes Its Last Stand

The Wilmington/Tewksbury group's last show is this weekend.

As the holidays near and the end of 2010 looms on the horizon there is another era about to come to a close. After six years, more than 40 different venues and over 200 shows, the wildly popular local band MOJO will be celebrating their final performance on Saturday, December 11 at T.J. Callahan's in Tewksbury. Together since January of 2005, dance-rock band MOJO consists of Wilmington-resident Paul Melaragni on vocals, along with Tewksbury-residents Ken Risher and Joe Dogherty on guitar, Gene Risher on drums and Bob Armstrong on bass. "Part of what propelled us," explained Paul, "is that we were always fixtures around town. The interesting thing about MOJO is that we were all friends before the band." High School Band Continues Veterans Day Tradition

The high school band revs up for another Veterans Day celebration with honor.

It's Friday afternoon and through the doors of the band room at Wilmington High School some rather untraditional band music fills the halls. The band is practicing songs by the Doors and Lady Gaga, but they'll be putting those songs aside next Thursday. Less than two weeks after their performance in Woburn's Halloween Parade, Wilmington High School's Marching Band plays in a more somber context. They will be meeting Wilmington's veterans on the town common to help remember and appreciate those who have served our country. "It's an honor to be asked to play every year," says Band Director Barbara Mette. At one time there was a yearly Veterans Day parade, but since so many businesses now stay open during the holiday it has become difficult …
