Running Out of School Vacation Week Ideas?

Here are a few more to check out before heading back to school on Monday.

By Liz Taurasi

As school vacation week winds down, there’s still plenty of snow on the ground, but only so much skiing and sledding a family can do. Here are some ideas for keeping your children entertained, indoors and out, as you wrap up the week and head into the weekend.

Visit the Boston Children’s Museum - The children’s museum has activities all day long through vacation week. The theme of the museum’s February school vacation program is Engineering Everywhere with activities and programs all week long for all ages. And th week ends with an all day engineering festival on Saturday, Feb. 22 in collaboration with the Boston University Socitey of Black Engineers. For program details visit the museum’s daily calendar.

Head on Over to the New England Aquarium - The aquarium also has a full schedule of events every day during vacation week for children and families. From visiting training sessions, to live animal presentations, and feedings to shows at the IMAX theater - there’s a lot to offer. View the full schedule of events for school vacation week.

Want to head back outside and enjoy the winter weather? Well, we have some ideas for that too:

Outdoor Skating at Frog Pond - Lace up those skates and hit the Frog Pond on Boston Common.  The pond is open daily and the schedule for the rest of this week is as follows for public skating:
  • Thursday 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.

  • Friday and Saturday 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

  • Sunday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
