Wilmington's Joe Pendenza Signs Pro Contract

The UMass Lowell forward signed with Nashville's top minor league team.

Joe Pendenza didn't have to sit around too long waiting to play hockey again once his college career came to a close on Saturday with a loss to Boston College in the NCAA tournament.

The University of Lowell forward and Wilmington resident is heading to Minnesota.

Once the college season came to a close, the Milwaukee Admirals came calling, and Pendenza answered with a "yes." The Admirals are the top minor league affiliate of the Nasville Predators, who have six games remaining in the National Hockey League regular season.

According to a report in the Lowell Sun, Pendenza attended Predators Development Camp last summer, so it's obvious the franchise has kept a close eye on the Wilmington resident.

Pendenza finished his senior year as the top scorer for UMass Lowell, a program he helped resurrect in recent years.
