Wilmington Sophomore Jackson Gillis Fires No Hitter Versus Woburn

The talented Wilmington pitcher racked up 12 strikeouts in the win.

Jackson Gillis is just a sophomore. But he's already proving to be the ace of the Wilmington High School rotation.

The Wildcat starting pitcher was rock solid as a freshman, and he's come back just as strong this year.

On Thursday, Gillis stole the show against Woburn, firing a no hitter against Woburn while racking up 12 strikeouts in a 5-0 victory.

Strikeouts have proven to be a strong point for Gillis in his young high school career. Last season in his first career varsity start, Gillis struck out 15 batters in a complete game effort.

Gillis has the attention of ESPNBoston.com, which released its preseason all-state team earlier this week. Though Gillis was not on the first team, he was among the players on the watch list.
