Wilmington had extra ice to work with. The Wildcats took advantage.

Medford was called for too man men on the ice midway through double overtime of Saturday's North Division 1 boys hockey quarterfinal game. During the resulting 4-on-3 advantage, senior Cody McGowan cashed in with the game-winner and allowed Wilmington to advance with a 1-0 victory.

As a result, Wilmington and Arlington will square off in the semifinal round on Wednesday night as the Wildcats' hopes for a third straight state title remain in tact.

Check back with Wilmington Patch on Monday for complete coverage of the game, including photos, reaction and video of the game winner.
