Double Overtime Drama: Wilmington Edges Medford with McGowan Goal

Senior forward Cody McGowan fired home the game-winner midway through the second overtime to propel the Wildcats.

Wilmington had extra ice to work with. The Wildcats took advantage.

Medford was called for too man men on the ice midway through double overtime of Saturday's North Division 1 boys hockey quarterfinal game. During the resulting 4-on-3 advantage, senior Cody McGowan cashed in with the game-winner and allowed Wilmington to advance with a 1-0 victory.

As a result, Wilmington and Arlington will square off in the semifinal round on Wednesday night as the Wildcats' hopes for a third straight state title remain in tact.
