After a Monday off from game action, a busy week of Wildcat sports tips off on Tuesday night with some basketball action.
The girls basketball team hosts a tripleheader against Watertown on Tuesday with freshmen, JV and varsity games slated for 3:30 p.m., 5:30 p.m. and 7 p.m.
Also on Tuesday, the boys basketball team plays Watertown with the same schedule of games, except Joseph Maiella's charges will be on the road.
Wednesday is also a busy day for the Wildcats, beginning with a JV boys hockey game at 2:30 p.m. against Stoneham.
At 4:50 p.m. the girls hockey team plays a road tilt against Wakefield while the boys hockey team plays the same opponent at 7:10 p.m.
Both track teams are in Woburn on Wednesday with a 5:15 p.m. meet while the wrestling team grapples against Burlington on the road at 7 p.m.
There are no games on Thursday, but Wilmington gets right back to work on Friday with basketball tripleheaders. The boys team is at home against Melrose while the girls travel to face the same opponent.
The week, however, does not end there. A busy Saturday is also in store for the Wildcats beginning with the wrestling team's 10 a.m. start at the Mt. Anthony Tournament in Vermont.
Steve Scanlon's boys hockey team faces a big test at home on Saturday, taking on defending Division 1 state champion Burlington at 12 p.m. It's the first part of a grueling two-game stretch for Wilmington, which battles two-time defending champion Malden Catholic on Monday night.
In the final varsity game this week, the girls hockey team skates against Burlington beginning at 2:30 p.m. inside Ristuccia Arena.
