Where Does Wilmington Rank on 'Best Schools' List?

Wilmington Public Schools ranked 84th in the Boston Magazine Best Schools list in the September 2013 issue.

According to Boston Magazine, 84 percent of Wilmington students achieved proficiency (scoring 3-5) on AP exams with 85 percent of Wilmington students going on to attend college.

Wilmington has a 91.4 percent graduation rate, according to Boston Magazine, with total enrollment at 3,559.

According to the magazine:

“To assemble this year’s Best Schools list, we spent months compiling numbers—released by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education—from 147 municipalities in Greater Boston.

"The schools in the cities and towns that topped our proprietary ranking stood out across 20 different categories, including student-to-teacher ratio, average class size, expenditures per pupil, rate of college matriculation, and results on tests such as the SAT and the MCAS.”
