What Do You Want to Know about College Finances?

Ask your questions at our live chat Thursday, Aug. 1, at noon.

By Grahame Turner

When I hit college, I suddenly had a bunch of money and no bills. I had always wanted to learn the guitar, so I went out and bought one.

I still don't know how to play it.

In hindsight, this was not my brightest idea. There were some questions I should have asked about finances, and a few I might have needed to ask myself. For anyone who is heading off to college, we are hosting a Patch Live Chat Thursday where you can ask some of those questions I should have asked.

Stop in at noon to meet our expert Jane Lundquist, from Rockland Trust. She's the Executive Vice President and Director of Retail Delivery at Rockland, and she is coming to answer your questions.

A few users have already left questions, like this from Randy Winslow in Westford: "Is it better for the parent to help the student apply for combined financial aid, or have them emancipated (with all that, that entails) and apply on their own?"

Have questions of your own? Bring them with you to the chat. If you can't make it to ask your questions on the day, you can leave them in the comments below. We will have a full transcript on the site after the chat.
