The Way to the Stomach is Through the Heart

Article about food pantry donations through WCTV.

On Saturday, February 16, WCTV had its Annual “Donations from the Heart” food drive at Market Basket.  Because of the blizzard we rescheduled from February 9th to February 16th.   We had help from eight students from WHS’s Interact Club: Alexa Peroni, Julia Masiello, Jacob Aoki,  Jeff Favuzza, Brooks Carter, Megan Rhind, Siobhan Scanlon, Colin Scanlon. One of WCTV’s student volunteers, Savannah Hubbard also volunteered.  The students were at the entry doors handing out slips of paper indicating some of the food needed by the Wilmington Food Pantry.  The students worked from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.  Mary Leard and Sandra Curtin worked to keep up with the volume of donations.

Nine Market Basket carriages were filled to the brim and underneath for the Food Pantry.  Bob DiPalma picked up all the food in shifts from the store and brought it to the Food Pantry for us.

WCTV would like to thank all the shoppers who supported our efforts and gave generously.  One man brought a full carriage of food over to us and donated its entire contents.

Thank you to all the students from Interact who volunteered to help and were so great to work with.  It was a wonderful time and it does uphold our faith in our fellow man.
