Selectmen to Receive Update on Proposed RMLD Rate Increases

Selectmen will also get a visit from a special member of the Wilmington Police Department at their Monday meeting.

Wilmington Selectmen have a full agenda for their Jan. 13 meeting, including receiving an update on proposed Reading Municipal Light Department Rates and a visit from a special member of the Wilmington Police Department. 

General Manager of the Reading Municipal Light Department Colleen O'Brien will update selectmen on a proposed hike in rates that could increase Wilmington electric bills by as much as 9 percent starting in February

In a previous statement, O'Brien explained RMLD is seeking an approximate 5 percent increase to the overall bill which equates to 9 percent of the customer and base energy charges on the residential bill, and the customer, base energy and demand charges on the commercial/industrial bill.

Selectmen will also hear from Wilmington Police Chief Michael Begonis, Patrolman Eric Palmer and K-9 Ridic regarding K-9 storm ballistic vest and K-9 intruder camera.

Attorney Robert Peterson will go before selectmen on Monday regarding a public hearing on Red Heat Tavern’s application for alteration of licensed premises for the restaurant to be located at 300 Lowell St. 

Red Heat Tavern is a new venture by BGP Tavern, LLC who also own and operate Burtons Grill.

Selectmen will also hear a request for a change of managers at Main Street Liquors, 335 Main St. 

Town Manager Jeff Hull will provide selectmen an update on the 2014 Annual Town Meeting and Fiscal Year 2015 budget calendar.

The board will meet at 6:30 p.m. in executive session to discuss real property issues, with the meeting scheduled to go into regular session at 7 p.m.
