What Do You Think of Wilmington's Alternate Fourth of July Plans?

An event is in the works that will take place at Shriners Auditorium.

Are you excited about a three-day Fourth of July celebration at an alternate venue this summer? That's the likely scenario after lengthy debate over recent months about the future of the annual festivities.

Town Manager Jeff Hull told the Lowell Sun recently that the most likely scenario is a three-day celebration at Shriners Auditorium, likely running from July 3 through July 5.

Organizers are still hoping to still hold a fireworks display. In addition, The Sun reported that non-profit organizations could set up inside the Shriners and there is still a possibility a carnival could be set up outside.

Changes to the event were caused by the construction of the new Wilmington High School, and initially it appeared there would be no celebration at all this summer.

What are your thoughts on a potential three-day celebration at Shriners Auditorium? Let us know in the comments section below.
