Election Day Arrives in Wilmington [POLL]

Two contested races are on this year's ballot.

Local boards will take shape on Saturday as residents come out to the polls to appoint the newest Wilmington elected officials.

Polls are open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday, with results announced just after 8 p.m. by Town Clerk Sharon George.

Precincts one and two will vote at , precincts three and four will vote at  and precincts five and six will travel to cast their vote at . If you need any help finding out where to vote, log on to this site through the town's website.

Incumbent Michael Champoux squares off against hopeful Kevin MacDonald for one seat on the Board of Selectmen in the first of . In the other, Mario Marchese seeks re-election to School Committee while residents Mary Jane Byrnes and Manny Mulas hope to snag one of the two vacant spots.

In addition to the Board of Selectmen and School Committee races, there are several uncontested races as well.

Darryl MacDonald, brother of Kevin MacDonald, is running for a position on the Redevelopment Authority, a board that will be on the agenda at next Saturday's Annual Town Meeting.

Warrant Article 23 asks voters to allow the Board of Selectmen to dissolve the Redevelopment Authority since it has not served a purpose in several years.

Incumbent Jim Gillis is running unopposed to be a Wilmington representative on the Shawsheen Valley Technical High School Committee, Town Moderator James Stewart is the only candidate on the ballot as he seeks re-election, and Stacie Murphy seeks appointment for five years on the Housing Authority.
