Woman Crashes After Allegedly Drugged Driving

The following is an excerpt from the Wilmington Police log from Wednesday, July 3, to Friday, July 5.

Wednesday, July 3

12:13 a.m.: A Winchell Road caller reported he heard a loud bang that sounded like a gunshot or fireworks and now sees two people walking down the street. Police spoke to a resident in the area who confirmed it was fireworks, though the involved parties were not located.

12:49 a.m.: Wilmington Police were called and brought a K-9 unit to Stoneham for an incident.

9:55 a.m.: Police received a report of a woman on the bridge on Route 62 over I-93. The woman then reportedly got into a car and left towards North Reading. Police located the vehicle and the Fire Department responded to the scene and transported her to Winchester Hospital.

12:44 p.m.: Walking into the station, an Olson Street resident reported a fuse on an air conditioning unit was taken, valued at about $200.

3:22 p.m.: Larceny was reported from a home on Manning Street.

10:42 p.m.: A single car motor vehicle crash into a pole was reported on Industrial Way with the Fire Department transporting the driver to Lahey Clinic. A 23-year-old Woburn woman was summonsed for operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, operating under the influence of drugs, possession of Class A drugs and two counts of possession of Class B drugs.

Thursday, July 4

1:53 p.m.: On Marcia Road a caller reported two cars possibly drag racing at the nearby intersection. The caller heard a loud argument and then one of the vehicles sped off. A second call came in from a resident who said one of the involved cars attempted to run them off the road.

5:10 p.m.: The lifeguard at Silver Lake reported people cooking on grills by the pier and drinking on the beach. Officers walked the length of the beach but didn't observe anything that was an issue.

7:30 p.m.: An erratic operator that started in Woburn was reported all over the road on Church Street. Police stopped the car on Richmond Street and arrested Thomas M. Hubbard, 66, of 21 Merrimac Drive, Pepperell, for operating under the influence of liquor, second offense, and marked lanes violation.

10:59 p.m.: Police received several complaints for fireworks around town.

Friday, July 5

7:05 a.m.: The Department of Public Works reported that sometime overnight several benches at the Wilmington High School football field in the construction site were vandalized and trash was scattered around on the ground.
