Wilmington Police to Host First National Night Out Event August 5

Event will feature fun and games, police and fire vehicle displays, a K9 demonstration, and a movie shown after dark all at Wilmington's Rotary Park.

The Wilmington Police Department is joining with communities across North America to host its first National Night Out event on August 5.

Made possible through a grant from the Cummings Foundation, the event will feature fun and games, police and fire vehicle displays, a K9 demonstration, and a movie will be shown after dark.

National Night Out is designed to heighten crime prevention awareness, generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime programs, strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships, and send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
