Wilmington Police Arrest Two For Breaking Into Cars

The following information is an excerpt from the Wilmington Police Department logs. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.


Following a spate of car break-ins in recent weeks, Wilmington Police arrested two individuals early Monday morning on Marcia Road after observing the pair breaking into vehicles in the area.

John T. Burns, 33 Marie St., Tewksbury, was arrested for breaking and entering into a vehicle (felony) and larceny under $250. 

Steven Awbrey, 36 Revere St., Everett, was arrested for breaking and entering into a vehicle (felony) and larceny under $250. 

Within the past week, overnight car break-ins have been reported to the police at the following Wilmington locations:

Saturday, Nov. 16

1:31 p.m.- A caller on Kilmarnock Street reported her property was taken from her mother's unlocked vehicle sometime between Nov. 13-15. 

Friday, Nov. 15

8:03 a.m.- A caller on Biggar Avenue reported his unlocked vehicle was entered overnight. 

8:31 a.m.  A caller on Salem Street reported his unlocked vehicle was entered overnight and $5-6 worth of change was taken. 

Thursday, Nov. 14

7:30 a.m. A caller on Fletcher Lane reported their vehicle was entered sometime overnight and a GPS was taken.

7:56 a.m. A caller on Kilmarnock Street reported their vehicle was entered overnight, although it appeared nothing was taken.

9:14 a.m. A caller on Suncrest Avenue reported his unlocked vehicle was broken into sometime overnight although nothing appeared to be missing. 

2:12 p.m. A caller reported his unlocked vehicle was broken into sometime overnight and a wallet was taken. The wallet was subsequently located by a neighbor who returned it. 

2:57 p.m. A Suncrest Avenue resident reported his unlocked vehicle was entered overnight and a wallet with $10 was taken.
