Wilmington Pedestrian Suffered Serious Injuries When Hit by Woburn Driver

Wilmington police are investigating the incident, which occurred late Wednesday night.

Wilmington Police said Thursday morning that they are continuing to investigate after a Wilmington man was struck and seriously injured while walking on Main Street late Wednesday night.

At about 10:50 p.m., police and firefighters were called to 411 Main Street, near the MBTA station, for a man struck by a motor vehicle.

The driver of the 2002 Toyota RAV4, a 28-year-old Woburn man, stopped and remained at the scene after striking a 59-year-old man from Wilmington.

After being struck by the vehicle, the Wilmington man suffered serious injuries. Wilmington Police and the Wilmington Fire Department joined Action Ambulance personnel to tend to the man until a medical helicopter arrived.

When the helicopter arrived, the man was loaded on board and transported to Beth Israel Hospital for further treatment.

Police said the incident remains under investigation by the Wilmington Police Department, along with the Massachusetts State Police Crash Analysis and Reconstruction Section.
