Wilmington Fire Department Train With Mobile Live Fire Training Unit

The Mobile Live Fire Training Unit is gas powered and fills with smoke as firefighters complete training exercises inside the trailer.

The Wilmington Fire Department participated in training exercises on Wednesday using the State Department of Fire Services Mobile Live Fire Training Unit.

Firefighters were presented a scenario involving a fire in a bedroom with a victim, and were required to enter the training unit, search for the victim and put out the fire, according to Lt. Joe McMahon.

The training unit is gas powered, fills up with smoke and challenges firefighters with live fires during training, according to McMahon.
