Two Drivers Charged With OUI After Separate Crashes

The following information was supplied by the Wilmington Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

The following is an excerpt from the Wilmington Police log from Saturday, July 13, to Sunday, July 14.

Saturday, July 13

1:14 a.m.: On Aspen Drive a resident reported a loud teenage party keeping her household awake. Officers cleared the area and the parties moved inside for the night.

3:58 a.m.: Calling from Woburn Street, a resident reported people possibly on or near the railroad tracks yelling loudly. Officers arrived on scene and located a one-car motor vehicle crash with airbag deployment, though no injuries were reported. The incident appeared to have started as a domestic disturbance on Quail Road, and the man fled the vehicle and struck a pole. James E. Johnson III, 25, of 41 Lawrence Road, East Medford, was arrested for operating under the influence of liquor.

11:40 p.m.: Police received a call for a two-car crash on Lawrence Street. One vehicle was unoccupied and the other fled towards Shady Lane Drive. Units did an extensive search of the area, including side streets and the Health Center, but could not locate the involved driver.

Sunday, July 14

9:39 a.m.: An owner was chasing a loose horse in the area of Park Street and Woburn Street. The horse was successfully returned to the property.

10:59 p.m.: On Blackstone Street, a resident reported that his vehicle was stolen sometime overnight. The car was locked and both sets of keys are in owners' possession. The vehicle was entered into a database for stolen vehicles.

6:00 p.m.: Following a crash into a telephone pole, a vehicle rolled over on Shawsheen Ave. and four people were injured. One of the injuries was more serious while the other three were minor. Patricia A. Roberts, 41, of 5 Kellogg Street, Auburn, was arrested for operating under the influence of liquor, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, and marked lanes violation.
