SUV Allegedly Runs School Bus Off Road, Into Hydrant

The following is an excerpt from the Wilmington Police log from Monday, February 25, to Tuesday, February 26.

Monday, February 25

11:49 a.m.: Police attempted to serve a warrant on Woburn Street. Stephen Michael Cruz, 24, of 616 Woburn Street, Wilmington, was arrested on an outstanding warrant.

6:26 p.m.: A dog bite was reported on Brentwood Ave.

9:18 p.m.: Two parties were taken into protective custody after police located a suspicious vehicle on Salem Street.

Tuesday, February 26

1:25 p.m.: Billerica Police reported a hit and run accident, with the suspect fleeing the scene. The vehicle was a silver sedan with heavy front end damage driven by a white male. Wilmington Police located a similar vehicle on Mike Run, but the driver was a female and there was no front end damage. Police were unable to locate the vehicle in question.

3:10 p.m.: A school bus struck a fire hydrant on Mass Ave. and had a flat tire. The hydrant was moved by the impact but was not leaking. A witness and the bus driver claimed that a blue SUV ran the bus off the road. The bus was towed from the scene.

6:42 p.m.: On Forest Street, a male party stated that his girlfriend’s son’s friends assaulted him and took off. A Billerica man and a Wilmington man were each summonsed for assault and battery.

10:59 p.m.: Raymond C. Spinazola Jr., 32, of 1403 Lords Court, Wilmington, was arrested and charged with operating under the influence of liquor, second offense, marked lanes violation and failing to stop or yield.
