Police Log: Vehicle on Fire and a Drug Arrest

The following information was supplied by the Wilmington Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

The following is an excerpt from the Wilmington Police log from Monday, July 15, to Tuesday, July 16.

Monday, July 15

12:33 a.m.: Police located a vehicle matching the description for an armed robbery in Tewksbury. The driver did not match the description from the incident and the car was sent on its way.

8:00 a.m.: On Evergreen Drive a resident called concerned over a baby crying for more than two hours, with no one answering the door at the apartment. Police spoke with a relative who was watching the child, and the baby was upset its mother wasn't home yet.

1:13 p.m.: A Fairview Ave. resident walked into the station to report that their unlocked vehicle was entered sometime since Saturday and $15 was taken from the center console.

2:07 p.m.: On Wildwood Street a car crash was reported with the vehicle driving into a pole. The Fire Department transported one person to Lahey Clinic.

5:57 p.m.: Just north of Exit 41 on I-93 South, a vehicle fire was reported. Wilmington Police responded to the scene and found a Ford Winstar with its front end engulfed in flames. Shortly after, the entire vehicle was engulfed in flames. Firefighters knocked down the blaze.

Tuesday, July 16

11:52 a.m.: A resident on Burlington Ave. said another person threw an item at him while driving by. Police filed a report on the incident.

2:48 p.m.: On Roosevelt Road a driver hit a pole, which landed on top of the vehicle. The driver cited for speed, impeded operation, marked lanes violation, seatbelt violation, and operating with a rejected inspection sticker.

4:37 p.m.: Police received a call for a dog bite on Burlington Ave. that occurred the previous day at a friend's house. The child who was injured was taken to the hospital.

5:54 p.m.: Following a stop on Main Street, police arrested Rebecca Knowles, 22, of 11 Little John Drive, Billerica, on an outstanding warrant and subsequent offense of possession of Class A drugs.

9:01 p.m.: A resident on Columbia Street reported that sometime today the wooden furniture on her porch was moved. She's unsure if someone was trying to gain access to the home. Police found the house was locked and everything appeared secure.

11:02 p.m.: Employees at CVS reported a woman took an item and left the store without paying. Police located the woman at her address. All items that were stolen were retrieved and returned to the store. A trespass notice was filed.
