Police Log: 'Unwanted Guest' Dragged From Attic

The following is an excerpt from the Wilmington Police log from Thursday, June 27, to Saturday, June 29.

Thursday, June 27

8:51 a.m.: A Salem Street resident told police that a rock was thrown through his window sometime overnight.

4:12 p.m.: Calling from Lowell Five Bank, a resident reported a lost envelope with $917 cash inside the parking lot area at around 3:40 p.m.

Friday, June 28

7:01 a.m.: On Federal Street, a resident noticed some damage to his garage doors that happened sometime since yesterday morning.

3:40 p.m.: Police were called to a single car crash on Fordham Road with the car hitting a pole. The driver was conscious and alert when police arrived. Though the pole was intact, it was snapped in half.

5:38 p.m.: A resident called from Kilmarnock Street to report a vehicle swerving all over the road with a driver that appears distracted. A 26-year-old Malden resident was summonsed for operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license and possession of an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle. He was taken into protective custody.

Saturday, June 29

3:46 p.m.: Vandalism occurred at the MBTA station at some point overnight. A pay phone box was knocked over, but there was no phone inside and no need to notify.

5:30 p.m.: A truck was broken into some time the previous night on Webber Street with a license and credit cards stolen.

9:07 p.m.: In the parking lot of Focaccia’s, a woman reported that she was assaulted by her boyfriend in while their child was in the vehicle. The man then left the scene before eventually coming to the station. The man passed a field sobriety test and was sent on his way. 

11:00 p.m.: Residents on Burnap Street reported an unwanted guest who the caller wanted removed. The homeowner denied consent to the home, but officers did not see the party in question leave the property. The man was eventually located in the attic after consent was given to search the home. Police arrested Joshua A. Kivlehan, 19, of 29A King Street for resisting arrest, a default possession of Class A drugs warrant, a warrant for violating an abuse prevention order. During the apprehension, four or five attic stairs were broken, as was the light bulb in the attic crawl space. Kivlehan said he struck his head on the rafters causing a lump and also had several abrasions to his arm and a contusion to his rib area.
