Police Log: OUI and Multiple Hit and Run Crashes

The following is an excerpt from the Wilmington Police log from Monday, January 21 to Thursday, January 24.

Monday, January 21

1:23 p.m.: A walk-in party reported that on Saturday around 4 p.m., his windshield was struck and damaged but he did not see anyone around him who could have caused the damage. The station officer viewed the windshield and found about six areas of damage that could have been caused by rocks.

5:54 p.m.: Calling from the train station on Main Street, a resident called to report a man stumbling across the parking lot and having a difficult time getting into the vehicle, leading her to believe he was intoxicated. The vehicle took a left onto Main Street toward Tewksbury with the only description being that the male was wearing a Bruins jersey. Officers spoke with the registered owner who stated her son was driving the vehicle. He chose not to have a conversation with the officers and the mother was advised of the complaints.

Tuesday, January 22

3:30 a.m.: Police received a call on Ballardvale Street for a male party in his 20s moaning on the side of the road with a bloody face and a twisted leg. The party appeared to have been struck by a vehicle, and police treated it as a hit and run with personal injuries.

3:17 p.m.: On Miller Road, a resident reported that sometime between January 3 and January 17 a laptop was taken from their front porch.

Wednesday, January 23

1:01 a.m.: Erek L. Wright, 36, of 3 South Street, Billerica, was arrested and charged with operating under the influence of liquor and marked lanes violation.

8:20 a.m.: Hit and run crash with a town vehicle was reported at the intersection of Church Street and Adams Street. There was no damage to the town vehicle and the other vehicle fled the scene.

4:36 p.m.: A caller reported an erratic operator struck the guard rail on I-93 North, exited at Route 125 and took a left towards Wilmington. The operator got out and spoke to the calling party, said he was not injured and took off again on I-93. New Hampshire State Police reported they had the vehicle in Salem, N.H., and took the party into custody.

6:24 p.m.: Following a domestic dispute, police arrested Anderson Diaz, 33, of 1224 Horseshoe Lane, Wilmington, for assault and battery.

Thursday, January 24

3:25 p.m.: Crossing gates were down on Middlesex Ave. due to a train being broken down on the tracks. Commuter rail employees came to the scene.
