Police Log: Nursing Home Theft and a Coyote Spotting

The following is an excerpt from the  log from Friday, June 15 to Sunday, June 17.

Friday, June 15

1:36 a.m.: Officer checked on a motorist at who was possibly asleep behind the wheel in the parking lot. The driver was tested for sobriety and passed before being sent on her way.

7:01 a.m.: A caller wanted to speak with the Animal Control Officer regarding a dog bite she received on June 1, on Burnap Ave.

9:09 a.m.: On Cochrane Road in Wilmington, a 22-year-old resident was summonsed for fraudulant use of a credit card.

12:38 p.m.: Callers reported that a coyote was walking around the vacant lot to the left side of Burger King.

1:44 p.m.: State Police requested a Wilmington unit to assist at on Shawsheen Ave. Five juveniles were picked up by their parents. State Police troopers confiscated alcohol and handled the incident.

4:26 p.m.: At on Main Street, a caller reported that she only wanted $20 worth of gas and the attendant filled the tank. The customer chose to pay for the gas and officers spoke with the attendant regarding practices.

Saturday, June 16

1:06 a.m.: Police arrived at Lords Court where two females took off on foot away from the vehicle. A local tow company removed the vehicle from the scene and the operator rode along after being issued a written warning for driving with a revoked registration. The license plates were confiscated.

6:20 a.m.: Officers found the door to the snack shack open at Rotary Park. An item was kept at the station until the responsible party came to the station to collect it around 8 a.m., at which time she checked to make sure everything else appeared to be normal. Everything at the snack shack was in order.

8:13 a.m.: A Woburn Street caller reported that a dog was struck by a car and appeared to be deceased. The vehicle involved left the area. Police contacted the dog's owner, who came outside to take care of the dog.

10:59 a.m.: After a traffic stop, a Woburn resident was summonsed for operating with a suspended license and a red light violation that happened at Lowell Street and Main Street.

12:37 p.m.: Four syringes were found in the road on High Street and brought back to the station for destruction.

2:45 p.m.: A caller reported vehicles disobeying the . The cones were knocked down in the area and detail officers put them back in place. 

Sunday, June 17

2:21 a.m.: In the parking lot, a male and female were involved in an argument, but fled when the cruiser approached. Peace was restored and both were sent on their way. The male was issued a citation for having an open container in a motor vehicle.

12:42 p.m.: A Federal Street caller reported five marks on the passenger side of his vehicle that could have been caused by BB guns. The man said the incident happened sometime in the past week.

6:00 p.m.: A walk-in party to the station reported several rings were stolen from a resident at .

9:29 p.m.: A caller on Main Street reported hearing fireworks in the neighborhood. Officers checked the area but all was quiet upon their arrival.
