Police Log: An OUI Crash, Found Drug Paraphernalia and More

The following information is an excerpt from the Wilmington Police Department logs. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.


Sunday, Oct. 13

9:41 a.m.- A caller on Boutwell Street reported they found a hypodermic needle on the ground. An officer retrieved the needle and brought it back into the station for destruction. 

10:04 a.m. Officers reponsed to a crash on Woburn Street where a car hit a pole. One person was transported from the scene with injuries by medflight. William D Fiumara, 25 Poole St., Woburn, was served summons for OUI liquor, speeding, failure to wear a seatbelt, marked lanes violation and negligent operation of a motor vehicle.

Tree Department was notified that several trees in the area of the crash were taken down and needed to be cut up. 

11:54 a.m.- Police received reports of trees and wires down on Grove Avenue at Lake Street. A vehicle was struck by a tree as it came down, but there were no injuries. Some homes on Lake Street and South Street were without power.

Monday, Oct. 14

9:09 a.m. An officer was flagged down by a walker on Adelaide Street who stated there appeared to be drug paraphernalia on a nearby bench. The officer recovered a pipe and transported it back to the station for destruction.

11:27 a.m.- A caller on I-93 southbound near the Woburn Street overpass reported approximately 20 minutes ago his windshield was struck by a rock and damaged. He stated he was unsure if the rock was kicked up by a passing car or thrown from the bridge. An officer checked the area.

2:57 p.m.- A Fairmeadow Road resident arrived home to find her house had been broken into sometime after 6:30 a.m. and the back door was smashed in and house had been ransacked. 

6:09 p.m. A resident on Stone Street reported arriving home after being away for the weekend and fencing had been removed from their property.
