Police Log: An Arrest For Assault and Battery, a Car Fire and More

The following information is provided by the Wilmington Police Department


Saturday, Oct. 12

10:06 a.m.- An officer at the end of Ainsworth Road reported a street sweeper that had its lights on, doors open but no one around it. The officer reported it appeared to be an oversight, and that he secured the doors but was unable to turn the headlights off. 

1:35 p.m.- A caller at GameStop on Main Street reported a group of four youth in the area using skateboards and making people jump out of the way. Officers spoke with the group and asked them not to ride bikes or skateboards on the sidewalks. 

2:05 p.m. Officers responded to a car fire on Richmond Street.

2:36 p.m. A caller on North Street reported she heard metal being banged together from the area of the railroad tracks behind her property. She observed three youths running along the tracks toward North Street. One was wearing a blue shirt, the others were wearing lighter colored shirts. Amtrak was notified. An officer spoke with a group of youths in the area of 14 Concord Street who said they were playing paintball in the area, but had not been on the tracks. The officer removed a brick and board from the tracks and located at least 20 stones on the tracks and removed those as well. Officers were unable to locate the youths who had been observed running from the area. 

8:08 p.m.- An individual came into the police station to report a domestic assault on Sandy Lane. Officers responded to 402 Sandy Lane. Lori McKenzie, 402 Sandy Lane, Wilmington, was arrested for assault and battery

9:34 p.m.- A caller on Woburn Street reported he placed an ad on Craigslist regarding his missing cat and had received a call from a male party stating he had found the cat and would injure the cat due to no reward. Officers spoke with the individual who denied making such a call.
